Joe Eggert

Joe Eggert’s artwork in bronze portrays the spirit of the American West and celebrates the cowboy way of life. An avid horseman and a native of San Diego, California, Joe grew up with a passion for the West and the cultures of the American Indian. He sketched and painted in his spare time but it was after retiring from 20 years in the restaurant industry that Joe discovered his talent in sculpting. More »

Pure Cowboy
by Joe Eggert

A self-taught artist, Joe’s work reflects his own style and an unwavering attention to detail. He bought his first few blocks of clay in 1990 and worked long hours after coming home from his day job. In 1998 Joe realized his dream of sculpting full-time. He stays busy with 8 to 10 shows a year, creating new pieces and promoting his artwork. Aside from sculpting, Joe likes to spend time working cattle with his friends, learning to rope and playing a little golf.

Joe is the recipient of many awards including the 2002 Phippen Family Award at The Phippen Fine Art Show in Prescott, Arizona. He also won the 2002 Silver Award for Bronze Sculpture at the National Finals Rodeo.

The 2003 Southwest Art Festival presented Joe with the blue ribbon for sculpture with his entry “Brushpopper”. In addition, at the 2003 San Dimas Festival of Arts, he won the Festival Choice Award for “More Than Friends” and also received 1st and 2nd place for sculpture. To top off the show, Joe is the first recipient of a special award for “Recognition of an Exceptional Body of Work”. “Takin’ a Talley” recently took Best in Show at San Dimas 2006.

Joe’s artwork has been featured in Western Horseman and Equine Vision Magazine.
Joe and his wife, Debbie, live in Pine Valley, California.
